The House

The Dining area
Yes it is that big...not sure what to do with all that room, my table only sits four. Eventually we plan to build a bathroom against that far wall and open the other bathroom into the master so we will have a master bath...but until then I guess this room will remain mostly empty.

The current bathroom...there is a bathroom in the garage as well that has an actual shower and a jetted tub.
Don't ask...I have no idea why you would build a bathroom nicer than the one in your house out in your garage :) haha
The Bedroom...this one is Bens. All 3 of them are pretty much the same.

The family room

The "extra" room that you enter into from the garage I guess it's a den. We use it as a toy room.
Gotta love that light don't cha?
Hopefully new light fixtures coming soon!
 The Kitchen

We plan on painting the cupboards...maybe adding some trim around them. Someday getting new counter tops...
Speaking of paint I picked out the color for the rest of the house yesterday talk about how to make a person nervous! Eek I'm still sick to my stomach hoping I picked the right one. I didn't want anything to dark I want light and arie...I also didn't want anything to pink or green. I want to do something totally different then I usually do. I just wanted a basic cream and then I just want to make my decorations an just pop with color. I hope it looks ok on the walls it's so hard to know from a tiny swatch of paper!

Well that's it...that's the house. I will have to do pictures of the outside later when there isn't a horse trailer parked on my front lawn.
Let me know if you have any suggestions on how to improve!

Hmmmm, suggestions? I can always give suggestions. Whether or not they are good and/or you like them is a different matter! Here are some recommendations: rather than painting the cupboards int he kitchen you could just put hardware(handles, knobs, etc.) on them. It is amazing what a difference they can make, and it would be a lot easier. Or you can paint and put on hardware. For paint colors, if you haven't already purchased yours (I couldn't quite tell from the post) try to get those that come in sample sizes. Then you can paint part of the wall and see if you like it with the lighting in your house. I did that, and was amazed at how different some of the paints looked when on the wall then when on the little piece of paper. (My favorite paint is Behr's from Home depot, and my favorite neutral color is chocoloate froth, same color Nicole has on her walls). I would also paint over the panelling, but I am not a fan of panelling. If you like it keep it. Good luck getting the house ready for your family!

Thanks Heather! And don't worry we are sooooo painting over the paneling! I have already been looking into hardware for the cupboards on ebay. I think we will do paint and hardware...they are just a bit to yellow orange for my taste! And I love Nicoles color! I did get my paint yesterday tho I went with one called Canvas Tan from Sherwin williams all there paint was 40% off this weekend so it ended up being even LESS then home depot or lowes! Now that's what I'm talking about! Anyway I will post pics when I get some of it done. It's just really basic but that's what I wanted I just hope it's the right tone...ya know? Wish I would have thought of sample sizes! maybe when I get paint for our accent walls I can do that! Thanks for all your great ideas!

YAY! Buying a house is SO much fun! We had paneling in one of our houses and we were able just to take it off the wall...so you might want to look into that as well. Your kitchen is so big and open! :)
Happy house decorating and everything that goes with it...
Can't wait for more photos!

It has so much potential!! We had some friends that just paintd their paneling and you couldn't tell it was ever paneling unless you went up super close. Actually we just painted our paneling in our basement, and you can't tell a ton that it was paneling before, but it's just our basement so we didn't really care. I do want to see pics of the outside, and it really does have so much potential. I've seen you and eli do amazing things to houses. Soon it will be yours and it will be a home. I'm so excited for you, please keep pics posted of the things you do.

I'm excited you have your own house now. I'm so jealous of all the counter space in the kitchen. -k- just jealous that you have a house. Definitely go lighter on the walls. I think that'll help it look roomier and airier. I'd love to come help. Good luck with getting it all done.
Love ya!

Nobs and pulls on the cabinets in the kitchen would look great, and they're super cheap on ebay. I got them for my entire kitchen for less than $20. It will be fun to see how you decorate and change things up. I love HGTV - I'll live my renovation needs through you. Oh, and the more expensive paint really is better and worth it.
